All writers interested in attending Kettle Pond should read over the dates below for a sense of what to expect during the application process. For clarity we have broken the timelines into two categories: one for applicants to The Workshops and one for applicants to The Writers’ Residency. Prospective applicants may refer to our Tuition page for information about conference costs and what is included in the price of tuition, as well as discounts we offer to accepted writers who submit their deposits by the early deadline. In addition to early deposit discounts, writers who are accepted for Early Admission are more likely to be placed in their top choice of workshop. Writers in need of financial support to attend the conference should refer to our Fellowships page for additional information.

 

Please note that while applications to both The Workshops and The Writers’ Residency are submitted through the same general Conference Application. Writers requiring fellowship assistance will need additionally need to submit a Fellowship Application.

*While writing samples are required of applicants to the generative workshops (Generative Poetry & Generative Prose), writers accepted to these workshops need not submit final manuscripts. Generative Workshops will be connected via email in advance of the conference and receive any preparatory materials their instructors wish to distribute on the same timeline as writers enrolled in Manuscript Workshops.

Extended (Final) Deadline Residency Applicants**

We encourage all writers interested in attending the Writers’ Residency to apply by the 2nd Round Deadline. Some years, dependent on waitlist movement and other factors, there is a limited amount of space remaining or opening up in the Residency program after the 2nd Round Application Deadlines have passed. In these circumstances, Kettle Pond will extend the final application deadline for the residency. Extended-Deadline applicants for the Residency may be accepted on a rolling basis in order of the date of their application. Fellowship funding and deposit deadline extensions of any kind are unlikely to be available to writers applying to the Residency under the Extended-Deadline. In the event that space in the Residency is available after the 2nd Round of Applications, the deadlines for final applications will be as follows:

 

May 15: Final Application Deadline for the Writers’ Residency**

May 19: Extended-Deadline Residency Applicants Notified of Admission Status

May 31: Final Deposit Deadline for all Writers Accepted Under the Extended-Deadline

 

**Information on the Extended Deadline will remain posted until the Writers’ Residency has filled. In the event that the Residency is filled before the Extended Deadline, applications will at that time be closed. (Essentially: As long as the above timeline remains posted, we would still love to see your application/you this summer.) Writers accepted to the Residency under the Extended Deadline will be connected with their fellow residents as staff are able.
